Yesterday, January 30, 2008, marked the one-year anniversary of Windows Vista General Availability. I know that Vista has taken it's share of criticism (especially from Apple TV commercials) but personally I love it!
It's hard to believe that this time last year I was waiting in a cold line at 11:30pm to get into my local Circuit City to meet Joe Theismann and get some free Vista swag at the big Vista Launch event.
Here are some facts:
- To date, over 43,000 hardware products are now supported on Window Update, up from 23,000 thousand at launch.
- Today more than 900 hardware partners have certified nearly 7,000 software and hardware products for Windows Vista that support new innovations in graphics, networking and imaging.
What's on the Horizon for 2008?
- The (Product) RED branded notebook and printer powered by Windows Vista Ultimate (RED) give consumers a whole new way to buy products they want and get medicine to those in need in Africa.
- SP1 is currently in beta and (as some people are reporting) will be released as early as February.
- More Vista Ultimate stuff (hopefully better than Hold Em Poker and DreamScene).

I love Vista as well. If there are any gripes its how the Vista Ultimate program is run. Its just to secretative. I can understand a reluctance to discuss the next version of Windows or this/that. But com'on Vista Ultimate should keep customers in the loop about what they are working on.
