$299 for a MediaSmart Server from HP

Earlier today I wrote about how to get an HP MediaSmart Server for only $369. If that seems way too expensive, then how about $299 instead?

OK, there is a small catch. You will pay $399, but Microsoft will issue you a $100 rebate check for using Live Search, bringing your total out of pocket to $299. And remember that included free shipping.

Here's how:

  1. Go to search.live.com and search for HP.
  2. At the top (as a sponsored link) you should see an ad from HP that says "Get 25% Cashback on PCs, Printers and More". If you do not, keep hitting refresh until you do.

  3. Click on the "Live Search cashback" link and this popup (below) should appear. Enter your email address and the capcha and click "Earn Cashback".

  4. You will then be taken to the HP store. Search for EX470 and it will take you to a search results page (the EX470 MedisSmart Server should be the first and only items listed).
  5. Once on the MediaSmart Server page you will see a $100 instant savings and a $50 instant saving, bringing the cost to $399.

  6. Click Adding Item and then View Cart and Checkout on the next screen.
  7. Complete the checkout as normal.

Unfortunately using this method you will not see a place to enter the $30 off SV2132 coupon code from the last article, but you should gladly trade a $100 rebate for $30 off.

And when your done, come back and upgrade your memory to 2GB! :)

Fin. Why not comment on what you've just read or even Digg It!

There is a place later in the checkout to use the coupon code, I believe it was just above the credit card information.

Just couldn't resist any longer at this price, even if I will ultimately have to take it apart to upgrade the memory.

Yep, there sure was a place for that SV code! Couldn't resist any more either. However, how is Microsoft going to send me the $100 when it doesn't know where to find me?

Never mind, found the email in my inbox when I was done.

I have heard that Microsoft COULD refuse the 25% off IF you use a coupon. I would suggest that you use caution and READ THE FINE PRINT on the Microsoft side.

If anyone does get the 25% and has used the $30 off coupon, please leave a comment here so that other can know.

I would suggest that if you are concerned, skip the $30 off coupon. Better to be safe than sorry, but that's only me.

Congrats to those who got in on the deal. Now HP's website shows $50 instant HP rebate instead of $100. Still a great deal though.

How would you all feel if after all this in the next week or two, HP unveils a new model? I have been waiting for the price on this to come down and want one SOO BAD, I just got a PH A-110 and dont want to be stuck with some outdated machine (especially in this economy, can't afford both!).

Any thoughts?

@sklwork: Well, I guess that goes with buying everything else in life. Do you buy this year's model car or wait until next year?

Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to wait. Of course, if HP comes out with a new model in 2 weeks, the price would probably be closer to retail, to target the early adapter crowd. Who knows, maybe the new model has some compelling feature that's a must have. But I think, the current EX470, with the current WHS OS, is a good price point of entry for those who wants one before, but have yet made a purchase until the price drops (which is now).

Well, that's just my humble 2 cents. :)

@eyedrop

thanks for the opinion, chances are $600 for the new one..way out of my price range, so I think i'll bite the bullet and used the saved cash for the 2GB RAM upgrade and a TB drive. I'll make it work till the new models come down:)

looks like HP took action and reduce the 100 rebate to 50, bringing the total to $349 after the MS deal!

Now at officemax.com for 299 + tax. Free shipping. Online only expires 11/29 (while supplies last)

Pulled the trigger!

Careful using the live.com cashback and any HP coupon or INSTANT rebate. According the T and C for live.com, you will not get your rebate if you use either coupon or instant rebates. Check out slickdeals thread.

I've been trying to do this, but I'm not getting the 25% offer on HP Home office. I'm getting 40%, sounds sweet right? But the intermediary screen for the Cashback never appears, it just goes straight to HP. So I'm confused on how this works. Can someone help me out? I want one of these babies!

Just a heads up, I just got denied my rebate because I did take the 25% off coupon, so that really sucks! Oh well nothing much i can do now.
