VIA announces an 8 drive 2U WHS Rack

image

VIA today announced that it has developed an 8 drive 2U rack system, the VIA NSR7800 Rackmount Storage Server. Likely based on the same platform as the VIA NSD7800, this rack server is also powered by an energy-efficient 1.5GHz VIA C7 processor and has eight hot-swappable SATA drive bays.

For more information, see the VIA website.

I hope it's available or at least upgradeable to the 64-bit Via Nano processor. If you are going to do a home build, I think its important to start planning for v2 WHS.

I agree, that's why I reused an old Dell N520 server instead of investing in new 64 bit hardware. When a 64 bit version comes out my current game system will lose it's high power video card and become my new WHS.
