Acer Aspire Easystore H340 Home Server $399 with 2TB

image

The Acer Aspire Easystore H340 Home Server just went on sale in North America. Canadian firm NCIXUX.com is selling this Atom based Windows Home Server for a sweet price of $399. And included is a free bonus, a 1TB Hitachi SATA drive (for a total of 2TBs). But you have to act fast, the $399 offer ends 4/28. Because this is a Canadian mail order house, there is a hefty $29 shipping fee, but still, you are getting a heck of a deal.

You can see unboxing photos of the Acer Easystore over on MVP Terry Walsh's We Got Served.

Fin. Why not comment on what you've just read or even Digg It!

So the $399 deal is over, but it still sells for only $411.43. Why they don't just keep the deal at $399 is beyond me.

And this unit also has a PCI Express slot!! I'm so looking forward to the next major release of Windows Home Server.

I picked one of these units up last month and it is working incredibly well. I had read in a few places that people found the units loud, but I have mine sitting on top of one of our desks, and it is quieter than my desktop PC's.
I put together some info about the whole idea of Windows Home Server and it is available here if you would like more info, http://www.squidoo.com/windows-home-server-info

I have an EX475 mediasmart server and now the Acer H340. The biggest difference is the HP software. Does anyone know a hack to install the HP software on the Acer H340 WHS?

Does anyone know how to setup WHS on the Acer H340 from a mac? There is not MAC compatible WHS connector and although I can remote desktop into the AcerH340 once it is setup, it seems like I can't get anywhere without first setting things up.... Can anyone help me?

As far as I know you cannot admin WHS from OSX because there is no way to run the home server console. Only workaround is dual boot windows, run windows from a virtual machine, or get a seperate windows pc (netbook)

All require another purchase, unless you have a copy of windows sitting around? This is the reason I have hesitated on getting a WHS product

you can use time machine on osx to allow you to save onto non mac machines. this will allow you to do what you are asking

Can someone tell me if I can just buy the Acer H340 case ? Anyone in Acer maybe ? I would like to stick a ION Atom board inside and turn it into a HTPC NAS.
